Jackie Kampmann has been a nurse educator for 31 years. The first 11 years she taught Saint Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. In 1991 SLH School of Nursing became Saint Luke’s College and since that transition Jackie has taught in the BSN nursing program. Her clinical area of expertise is psychiatric/mental health nursing and community health nursing. Jackie has cultivated a broad knowledge base related complementary/alternative medicine. She has developed and taught elective nursing courses in both Therapeutic Touch and Holistic Health Nursing. Her master thesis was titled The Effects of Therapeutic Touch in Anxiety in AIDS Patients. During the past several years Jackie has served on the Saint Luke’s Hospital Ethics Advisory Committee and through this service has developed a strong interested in nursing ethics. Currently she is a co-investigator in a research study examining moral distress in nurses. Jackie earned an MN from the University of Kansas (1988), a BSN from the University of Kansas (1974), and a BA in psychology from the University of Kansas (1971). She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Missouri Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nurses.
