Dean L. Hubbard, Ph.D., has been appointed president for Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences effective April 1. He was named interim president in October 2010 while a search committee identified a permanent leader.
The college’s board and search committee voted unanimously. “It is the board’s feeling that Dr. Hubbard’s stewardship as interim president demonstrated his outstanding capacity in the areas of leadership, knowledge and understanding regarding the college’s needs, mission and future opportunities,” said Jeffery Wieman, M.D., search committee chair. “We are excited by Dr. Hubbard’s decision to accept the position and look forward to building on the college’s current success.”
Hubbard retired in 2009 after 25 years as president of Northwest Missouri State University. Under his tenure, the university was a four-time winner of the Missouri Quality Award and a first place winner of the National Association of College and University Business Officers Higher Education Award. He was a founding member of the board of the Excellence in Missouri Foundation and in 1998 received the Missouri Governor’s Quality Leadership Award. He is internationally recognized for his work in the field of total quality management, and served for eight years on the board of the Alliance of Universities for Democracy.
Hubbard holds degrees from Stanford University in administration and policy analysis; Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in Korean language, and Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich., in speech, theology and systematic theology. In December 2008, he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from Gloucester University. He has written, edited or contributed to more than a dozen books and has published over 20 articles on the topic of quality.
